Kristýna Říhová has been an educator at the NGP since 2022,
specialising in fostering engagement with art and architecture from the 19th
to the 21st centuries. She develops and oversees educational programmes for
elementary schools and collaborates with universities and teachers.
She holds a degree in art education and pedagogy from Charles
University’s Faculty of Education, where she also completed a doctoral programme
specialising in subject didactics. Her theoretical work draws on selected areas
of postmodern philosophy, visual culture theory, art history theory and, to a
lesser extent, cognitive linguistics. Within these frameworks, she focuses on theoretical
texts that highlight paradigmatic shifts in focus towards the audience’s experience,
and in this context, she reflects on changes in institutional practices. She applies
insights from selected theories and their conclusions to pedagogy, art
education didactics, and gallery education, with a particular emphasis on the
needs of young audiences.
In her research, Říhová investigates specific teaching
scenarios based on working with images. She considers artwork interpretation in
relation to visual literacy, critical thinking, creativity development, and curricular
relevance. She presents her findings at both Czech and international conferences
and regularly contributes to Výtvarná výchova (Art Education) journal. She
has teaching experience at an elementary school, an art school, a post-secondary
vocational school, and a university. She maintains an expert affiliation with
the Department of Art Education at the Faculty of Education, Charles
University, where she has taught art didactics, gallery education, and ceramic studio
practice. Additionally, she teaches didactic analysis of artworks as part of the
pedagogical module at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
