The
series of twenty etchings entitled Creative
Forces (Die Schaffenden Kräfte)
of 1909 is an artistic meditation on the creation of natural crystalline forms
that emerge from a clash between the creative forces and inanimate matter. The
portfolio was produced by the Czech-German painter, graphic artist and
architect Wenzel Hablik (1881–1934), whose work derived from Central European
Symbolism and was linked with German Expressionism. In his art, Hablik
formulated his concept of crystalline architecture that he later developed in
his designs of visionary architectural structures.
