A graduate in History
from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, Jitka Handlová started an
internal research assistantship at the Czech Academy of Sciences in 1987. Since
1993, she has worked as an educator in the National Gallery Prague, focusing on
the mediation of the Old Masters through expositions and collection exhibitions.
Jitka Handlová produces concepts and implementations of weekend and weeklong
plein-air workshops, lectures for the public and other events in and out of the
NGP. She has co-authored several publications for children and youths. The Abeceda
book was recognised as the Most Beautiful Book in Education Literature in
2000. Jitka Handlová’s professional activities centre on 17th century Dutch and
Flemish art, as well as contemporary Czech art. She has authored the After
Rembrandt project.
