**The Collection of 19th-century Art of the National Gallery in Prague, in collaboration with the Regional Gallery in** Liberec have prepared an exhibition of the complete?? works of the painter **Joseph Führich (1800–1876)**. The exhibition will thus present for the first time an all-inclusive ensemble of works of this outstanding artist, a representative of religious painting in our country.
Führich was born in Bohemia, but from the 1830s he worked in Vienna where his career culminated in the post of a professor of the Viennese Academy. Arranged in several parts, the exhibition will show the gradual transformation of his oeuvre from his youth spent in Northern Bohemia, to his activities in the Romantic circles in Prague and his stay in the milieu of the Nazarenes in Rome, to his return to Bohemia. It will also suggest the development of his most significant period, in which he was active in Vienna after 1834. This is also the first time that Führich’s production is represented in the context of 19th-century Czech painting and a new evaluation is proposed (regionalism and links to his native territory, religious painting and Nazarenism, the new religiousness, renewal of the monumental painting, radical Romanticism, graphic cycles and their relationship to literature, reproduction media and the spread of artworks and models).
