The Graphic Arts Cabinet exhibition, whose name is derived from the Eclogues
of Virgil, explores a subject that is frequently avoided out of fear but
remains an integral aspect of every individual’s existence. Death and the
rituals associated with it have been the subject of many works of art since time
immemorial. The Graphic Arts Cabinet will present artworks from the 16th
to the 18th century, depicting the fear and pain associated with the
final moments of human life, or conversely, showcasing the artist’s equanimity and
humour
