A graduate in Art History from Charles University in Prague, Alena Volrábová started working in the department of old master drawings of the National Gallery during her studies, focusing on the same field since then. In particular, she occupies herself with Early Modern art – especially Central European drawings, 16th and 17th century prints, and iconography. Dr Volrábová has taken a long-term interest in Václav Hollar’s work; composing a catalogue raisonné of his drawings earned her the Award of the President of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR President Award) in 2018.
She has been Director of the Collection of Prints and Drawings since 2008.
