Michaela Pejčochová graduated in Chinese Studies from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague, where she also completed her doctoral studies in the History and Culture of Asian and African countries. She focuses on the history and theory of Chinese painting, the modern history of Chinese painting, and Asian art collecting in Europe. She has been a professional lecturer in the NGP since 1998, and a curator of Chinese collections in the Collection of Asian and African art since 2003. In 2008, Dr Pejčochová published the world-renowned modern Chinese painting collection kept in the NGP in the book Masters of 20th-century Chinese Ink Painting, and in 2019, she presented the unusual story of the collector Vojtěch Chytil in the study titled Emissary from the Far East – Vojtěch Chytil and the Collecting of Modern Chinese Painting in Interwar Czechoslovakia.
