Scientific Cooperation

Science and research are an important component of institutional functioning. In carrying out its scientific and research activities, the NGP cooperates with a vast array of subjects throughout academia: competent institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, university workplaces – especially of Charles University (Prague), Masaryk University (Brno), Palacký University Olomouc, and others including memory institutions as e. g. Moravian Gallery in Brno etc. NGP has also been cooperating for a long time in the scientific preparation of exhibition and publication outputs with many foreign institutions and individual experts, eg recently Wallraf-Richartz Museum & Fondation Corboud, Musée du Louvre, Bergbau- und Gotikmuseum, Leogang, Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Musée départemental breton, Centre Pompidou, Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais, Leibniz-Institut für Geschichte und Kultur des östlichen Europe, Leipzig, Museum Rietberg, University Innsbruck and others. 

A museum institution’s regular communication with the local and especially international scientific communities is usually established by a periodical, which publishes the results of scientific work on collection funds in a wide-ranging thematic context. The Bulletin of the National Gallery Prague (in English) fulfils this purpose for the NGP.

The Gallery’s medium-term goal is to promote international cooperation with important memory institutions abroad. Therefore, it is the NGP’s aim for the upcoming period to foster the institution’s involvement in international research, and its collaboration with foreign partners in science, research, and popularization. In the future, the NGP as an institution intends to open even more to foreign researchers and similar institutions abroad; furthermore, the NGP plans to present to a greater extent so far its own research outputs and results in international expert conferences, fora etc. The NGP will continue publishing translation catalogues, publications, and scientific and research results designed for foreign researchers and the public from the beginning, which is reflected by the language of the texts.
