On 9 December 1871, the life of Josef Mánes,
one of the most important Czech artists of more than just the nineteenth
century, came to an end. His extraordinary talent was reflected in the broad
spectrum of his artistic creation. We find paintings, drawings, and prints,
including portraits, illustrations, landscapes, and decorative works,
monumental works for public space intended for everyone as well as small masterpieces
of an entirely personal nature. Now you can look forward to our autumn 2022
exhibition, which will commemorate Josef Mánes not only as an excellent artist
but also as an interesting and complex person and an icon of Czech art for the
following generations.
