The symbolic culmination of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award 2022 will take place on 3/12 2022 in the Trade Fair Palace. For the third year already, instead of the traditional awarding ceremony, a
one-day celebration and meeting of exceptional artistic personalities will take
place. The laureates* of JCHA 2022 will be present at the guided tour led by
this year's curators Anetta Mona Chișa and Jaro Varga, and some of them will
also present an expanding program for their projects in the form of a
performance, game workshop or performative lecture.
The program also features the launch of the publication Baltic Triennial 14 (A Reader), reflecting last year's international exhibition of the 14th Baltic Triennial, which featured several Czech artists whose presence was financially supported by the Jindřich Chalupecký Society. Part of the launch will be an accompanying screening of films selected by curators Valentinas Klimašauskas and João Laia, who was one of the members of the JCHA international jury until last year. The program will also include an interview with the artist Anna Daučíková, who is one of the members of the current jury.
In parallel to the program for the public, a meeting of the JCHA international jury (Jury Meeting) takes place, which selects from the submitted portfolios the laureates of the next year's Award and meets with this year's laureates, to whom it provides feedback on the new art projects presented at the joint exhibition.

The space of Korzo on the ground floor of the NGP Trade Fair Palace will be transformed into an environment for meetings and closer acquaintance with this year‘s Jindřich Chalupecký Award for the Jury Meeting program. Visitors will be presented with video profiles of the laureates* art practices by Bohdan Bláhovec and Michal Blecha, a catalog for the exhibition CJCH 2022: All That is Solid Melds in the Air and other publications produced by the Jindřich Chalupecký Society in the previous years.
The audience can also write feedback to the laureates* regarding their works, thus continuing the tradition of the Audience Award. There will be refreshments and music production throughout the afternoon. Artistic conception of the environment and technical production: Michal Blecha.

Navigating as a queer person in this society can be difficult, especially when being in an environment that doesn’t really understand your identity, but still wants to learn more about it. Identity = activism. Or so it seems. In a newly interpreted version of the 2020 performance No offense, but about trans* knowledge 101, Ezra Šimek once again finds themselves in the position of the educator, the activist, the curious stranger, the teacher. Reacting to the ongoing violence enacted upon the trans* and queer community, whether it is the new anti-trans laws growing from the ground like mushrooms, physical attacks and murder, or gatekeeping within the already unaccessible healthcare system. This newly formed performative lecture touches upon these topics and serves as an extension of Šimek’s works presented at the Jindřich Chalupecký Award exhibition. In A ‘TED talk’ setting, Šimek will play with several incarnations and characters involving both physical and digital versions of themselves, as well as a performance by the dragtivist TONIC.

ABOUT THE BT14 READER
BT14 focused on the geopolitical territory of Central and Eastern Europe, premised on the conviction that in a paradoxical time of fragmented integration, addressing the local is, simultaneously, to question the global. This reader contains a number of texts touching upon the definitions, histories, potentials, and futures of the region which is understood as having a composite, porous constitution and transnational connections. The region’s gravitational pull is further highlighted by the introduction or anticipation of numerous tensions, such as disinformation, human-made industrial disasters, nativist nationalism, and the oppression of non-normative identities. Staged before the eruption of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Triennial took its title from Vannevar Bush via Eglė Rindzevičiūtė’s essay on cultural wars – Transforming Cultural Policy in Eastern Europe: The Endless Frontier (2021). In addition to the texts, this reader includes photo documentation and information from exhibitions and events that were presented across the city of Vilnius: at the Contemporary Art Centre, Atletika, Autarkia, Editorial, Lithuanian Artists’ Association, Rupert (hosted by Tech Arts) and Swallow.
